Last week I wrote some mental health helpers, including my new design. Which is now being featured at Typepad's design services page. Holla!
I asked you what kinds of things you did for mental health and your answers were so great, I'm sharing them in a post today.
So read on. Mental health, YOU style.
Angela at Tiaras and Trucks said: My runs help, but they're too short :)
Theresa at A Mountain Momma said: My mental health break will be when we get home from vacation and I get an afternoon to myself to get a haircut, pedicure, and drink wine with my girlfriend...
Jessica at 4 Plus an Angel said: WIth my kids starting school I'm really refocusing and working on how we are going to make life work this fall.
Tracie at From Tracie said: My mental break will be tomorrow, when my husband takes my daughter swimming, and I relax at home - soaking in the peace and quiet!
Grumpy Grateful Mom said: I'll be going out with a friend this week, without kids!
Mercy at Days, Life, Dreams said: I usually try to get a break when the kids are sleeping - I watch something (am working through Star Trek TNG, all 7 seasons) or do some beauty stuff that I never do often enough, with a drink and yummy snack in hand. Having time to myself without the kids is currently a dream only. Maybe some day.
Now it's your turn again. Leave a "My Mental Health" comment and I'll link back to you for the next one!
My mental health? I think I need to go see the Help. Best book ever. (Which the Big Man says I say about all books - and maybe I do say that about a lot of them, but I really mean it about this one - swear).
Wanna go with me? We COULD go see it and then have a comment post like this one about it . . .
Hey, thanks for the shout out!
My vacation is over, having drinks with my girls tomorrow night, just need to schedule my ME time. *sigh* amazing what a difference it all makes. Acknowledging that you need and deserve some ME time.
You have earned it ladies...

My mental health break is when I get to go back to work next week without the kids in tow. It's really hard to focus on work when you have both kids trying to talk to you when you're on the phone. I will be able to enjoy adult conversation again without interruption.

I love seeing how what everyone is doing for mental health breaks. It gives me some good ideas (except for running - which will probably never make my list - ha).
I love that you always says that whatever book you are reading is the best book ever. It shows that you really enjoy them.

OMG, we're seeing The Help tomorrow night!! I've been dying to see it and I need to finish reading the book by then (I'm about 90% done right now). I'm dragging my hubby with me...he says I'll owe him so I'll probably have to sit through Cowboys Vs Aliens at some point (gag).
My mental health break is every evening when the kids are in bed. I sit down at my laptop with a chilled glass of wine and just connect with others. I would say my mental health break is when they're at school but even then I tend to have them on my mind because they're not with me. And you know how us mothers tend to worry about our kids when they're not right by our side.
So yeah after they're in bed, safe and sound, I feel like I can truly relax.

For me? I make an effort to get out of the house everyday. I've stopped being so rigid about a set schedule and just focus on the time with my daughter. Plus, she likes getting out too. We're both much happier.

This may sound funny, but my mental health break each day is when I sit down to write my blog post. I light a candle, put on some soothing music, close the office door, and check in with my inner voice. And then I type. It's a great way for me to see what's happening underneath the surface - it's a way to give voice to my soul. I always feel much more centered afterwards - ready to get back to the busyness and sometimes craziness of the day.
I found you through SITS! :)

When I take the time to create and craft. Just having time to myself feels great- but when I use that time to make something amazing or even pretty dang good- then I really feel happy.

It's interesting reading all the different answers. Enjoy your movie! I've been wanting to see that too.

Can't wait to see the Help!! I also think it was one of my favorite books. Can't believe it was her first book. Loved seeing all these answers. For a mental break, I read, watch movies and garden. I walk when it's not so hot, too. And when I write is becoming a mental break now, too!!

I try to take mental health breaks on the weekends when my husband is home. I tell everyone I have to use the bathroom and then sit on the toilet for a full 20 minutes for a little peace and quiet. :)

Love hearing everyone's mental health remedies... and getting some ideas to use for myself! With my personality, I'm always on-the-go, so I'm learning to relax. This might sound funny, but breastfeeding has become my #1 mental health break. I HAVE to slow down. And, it's great time for me to reflect and connect. I also love yoga so that helps slow me down and relax.
