Today I am honored to be the guest poster at Kludgy Mom! I am writing for her Summer of Love Series.
I contacted her on the morning after Big G's very first sleepover. I'd just written a primer on what to expect at sleepovers and in my sleep deprived state, I thought it was hilarious. She said yes and after I picked myself off the floor, I realized, OMGOMGOMG what if everyone else doesn't think it's funny? What if everyone else has easy-peasy sleepovers?
But then I thought, "What the hell am I talking about? How could ANYONE like sleepovers if you're not the child? They're God Awful PAINFUL."
Here's a conversation from the morning of that first sleepover. Then head over and read my primer on Sleepover survivial.
And thanks to Gigi, who is one of my favorite bloggers! She's funny, poignant and truly helps her fellow blogger. Seriously, I have learned so much from her since I started this blog in March. I am indebted.
And if you're here from Kludgy, welcome! I'm so happy to have you here today! It will help me forget that it's the first day of school for one of my children.
Beginning the day (after a sleepover)
7am (after going to sleep at 12:30am).
Big G and friend: "Hey The Big Man, can we go peek at Little Iggy?"
The Big Man: "Yes, just don't wake her up."
Big G and friend (of course wake her up): "Little Iggy, you're awake! Want to get up with us?"
Little Iggy: "Sure!" (quivering with excitement over being included)
(15 seconds later - no exaggeration)
Big G and friend: "Mooooommmmm, can you get Little Iggy out of my room? We'd really like some privacy here."
Me: "That would be a NO."
Big G: "What? I thought I was allowed to be alone in my room."
Me: "When you wake your sister up to say hi and 15 seconds later change your mind, you don't get privacy, you get natural consequences."
Big G: "FINE."
Little Iggy: "YAY!"
Now, head over to see the rest!
Hahahahaha. Stopping by from SITS. I hadn't even given a thought to how traumatizing sleepovers are for the parents. Glad I have such fun to look forward to.

Hey Missy... loved the guest post! Thanks for the fair warning. I was SO NOT a sleep over kid... one-on-one was fine, but I hated the big one's. Is it wrong to hope my daughter feels that way one day too? I can't imagine having to be the mom hosting *yikes*

I'm just happy my kids aren't at that age yet...
Love what you wrote. It was funny and informative. I'll have to remember that when my girls are old enough for sleep overs. Somehow I don't think my son will be into them.
